Excerpt: “Tarcutta ‘you’ve gotta crawl before you walk before you waltz’ (hidden shoal). Released as something of a teaser heralding the imminent arrival of their debut self titled full due in July, we’ve a sneaking feeling that once ’you’ve gotta crawl before you walk before you waltz’ hits the global radars of the psyche jazz communities at large then there’s going to be a fair amount of wig flipping to be had. Tarcutta are a Melbourne based trio who have undoubtedly wiled away the small hours tinkering and tweaking their craft whilst cutting their teeth and being informed by late 60’s sonic art forms. Hypnotic and mesmerising ‘crawl’ initially takes its cue from Procol Harum’s ‘whiter shade of pale’ as it sublimely carves out a numbing chamber / church like reverence, all the time slowly but surely shifting in depth and texture with the slow drip introduction of the various 12 string and Hammond accompaniments whilst slowly beginning to consume the listening space as it blossoms and terra-forms through a myriad of mood enhancing manoeuvres as it accelerates through a mind blowing odyssey of lysergic tipped star crested sound-scapes that at various points see it embroidering upon its rich tapestry elements of psyche, jazz and progressive space rock, in short it’s a six minute trip to enlightenment.”
