New Slow Dancing Society Single from Forthcoming Album

GarlandWe’re excited to be able to present ‘Garland’, the first cut from The Torchlight Parade. Vol. II, the second and final part of Slow Dancing Society’s The Torchlight Parade. Vol. II represents the tenth album in the US-based ambient artist’s expanding discography, which began with The Sound of Lights When Dim (2006), now considered one of the classics of modern ambient. The Torchlight Parade. Vol. II will see release on the 3rd of August. ‘Garland’ is available to stream via SoundCloud and download via Bandcamp.

Volume II of Slow Dancing Society’s (Drew Sullivan) The Torchlight Parade continues the artist’s immersive nocturnal sonic tapestries. While Vol. I was marked by a sense of exploration and tension, Vol. II arrives at a place of reflection and resolution. Much like its predecessor, where each track title references a specific place in Sullivan’s home town of Spokane, Washington, Vol. II also creates its own distinct geography – both external and internal. From the graceful melancholy of single ‘Garland’ to the smoky radiance of ‘Shadle Park’, Vol. II is a deeply evocative ambient experience. Sullivan’s ability to work within the ambient format, yet create such complex and engaging narratives is a special thing indeed. Following in the footsteps of Eno, these works are soundtracks to films yet made.

All Slow Dancing Society’s music is available for licensing (film, tv, web, games and beyond). More info here.

Medard Fischer “Lucky You” Out Now

Lucky YouWe’re very excited to announce the official release of Medard Fischer‘s epic new album Lucky You. The album is available now via Bandcamp and all good third party stores, including Spotify, iTunes, Amazon et al.

On Lucky You, Medard Fischer’s creative process was influenced by his father’s struggle with cancer and tragic passing. While coming to terms with his loss, Fischer was intrigued by recent studies suggesting that more than two-thirds of cancerous mutations may be caused by random replication errors, and was inspired to explore how the implications of chance shape lives in both ordinary and profound ways. Taking its cues from generative music and sound collage, stochastic processes are central throughout Lucky You; they define timbres, melodies and entire song structures. Elements pop in and out like sparks, driven by random number generators, multi-tiered probability gates and feedback loops cycling through old electronics. Yet, despite its conceptual underpinning, Lucky You has immediate emotional resonance, befitting the circumstances that inspired it. Pieces shift from playful to contemplative and from hopeful to haunting  – tracing contours of moments lived in the shadow of chance, by turns beautiful and tragic.

Lucky You, along with Medard Fischer’s other work, is available for licensing (film, tv, web, games and more) via Hidden Shoal. Read more about Hidden Shoal’s music licensing services here.

New Lunar Landscape Single – Stream and Teaser Video

Chaque seconde de ta vie Cover Art‘Chaque Seconde de ta Vie’ is the first single lifted from The Infinite Pleasure of Being, the debut album by Bordeaux-based atmospheric rock band Lunar Landscape. The track is available to stream via SoundCloud and YouTube and is available for download via Bandcamp. The album will see release on September 12th 2018 through Hidden Shoal. Don’t forget to check out the stunning artwork from Stuart Medley (more to come with the album!). Those of you who have been with us from the beginning may recognise the band name. Read on…

Expanding on the progressive shoegaze of previous incarnation Beautiful Lunar Landscape and the instrumental rock of sister project Les Limbes, the album is a definitive statement from principal songwriter Arnaud Sigonney (piano, keyboards, guitar, vocals). Back in 2007, Hidden Shoal released Sigonney’s previous band Beautiful Lunar Landscape’s stunning debut EP Alone in this Dark Romantic Night, which received widespread critical acclaim. He then took a break from music, before returning with instrumental rock band Les Limbes in 2015. The songs that comprise the debut album by new project Lunar Landscape have been written throughout Arnaud’s musical life. The Infinite Pleasure of Being was recorded by Marco Gomes at Studio Carat with a new band in 2016, featuring Les Limbe’s Yoann Roy (bass), Franck Lantignac (drums), Line Senium (piano) and Marine Hebard (vocals).

Stunning New Liminal Drifter Single, ‘Beach Fair’

Beach FairWe’re excited to present the lush dreamtronica that is the new Liminal Drifter single, ‘Beach Fair’, taken from his forthcoming album The Dreams. The track is available to stream via SoundCloud and is also available on Spotify, iTunes, Bandcamp and the rest. The Dreams sees release via Hidden Shoal on the 12th June.

Following his acclaimed debut album, Troubled Mystic, and its remix companion, Night Train Vacancies, this new collection displays Simon Order’s ongoing mastery of melodic, transportive electronica. Befitting its title, The Dreams has a hypnotic feel, its pristine sonics rendered uncanny by subliminal details. Track titles such as ‘Beach Fair’, ‘Angels of the Sea’ and ‘Fish Don’t Have Arms or Legs’ offer suggestions of the aquatic vibe of the release, with sonar pings and synth pads washing in and out as samples of submerged voices nag at the subconscious. Whether it’s the driving bassline of ‘Stranger Things’, the dream-pop guitars and skanking piano on ‘Man is Part of Nature’, or the thick synth arpeggiation on the closing track ‘Time Lapse’, The Dreams takes great care to offer up waves of lush dreamtronica.

Liminal Drifter’s music is available for licensing across film, tv, web, games and beyond. Head here for more info or contact us with your enquiry.

Slow Dancing Society “The Torchlight Parade Vol.1” Out Now!

The Torchlight ParadeThe stunning The Torchlight Parade Vol.1, the ninth album from US-based ambient artist Slow Dancing Society (Drew Sullivan) is now officially available. The album is the first installment of a two part series with Vol.II seeing release in August this year. For the uninitiated,  Sullivan’s debut, The Sound of Lights When Dim, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, is now considered one of the classics of modern ambient. The album is available now via Bandcamp and all good 3rd party digital stores.

Continuing Drew Sullivan’s nocturnal explorations, The Torchlight Parade takes a smouldering instrumental palette and sparks it to life with gorgeous slo-mo guitar, pulsating synth bass and sparse beatwork. While SDS’s discography is best described as immersive, The Torchlight Parade feels submersive, pulling the listener into an instrumental soundworld with a genuine depth and distinct sense of place. All of the song titles on The Torchlight Parade refer to actual roads or places in Sullivan’s home town of Spokane, Washington, mapping out a deeply personal musical psychogeography. A spiritual successor to 2012’s Laterna Magica, the album extends its cinematic intentions through vividly filmic narratives, presenting an incredibly cohesive whole.

Slow Dancing Society’s entire catalogue is available for licensing across tv, film, games, web and beyond. Contact us for more information.

Crisopa’s original 2017 release of Transhumante (via the Sound in Silence label) presented an immersive suite of deeply evocative and melodic ambient electronica. The new extended version of the album includes six beautiful new additions, bathing the listener in waves of ecstatic synth swells, textural loops and insistent rhythms. These surging, emotive tracks simultaneously summon forth aching nostalgia and a blissful state of hopefulness.
