Scarcely a dry eye or a glum face in the gaff by the time this completed its visitation cycle, a perfect ‘before everyone gets up’ moment of sweet solitude. This is from a debut EP by duo glanko and daniel bailey, a track by the name ‘adiaphora’ – a beautifully set shy eyed lovely offering a masterclass in the use of space, poise and timing, a frail and fragile ghost light whose hypnotic lull comes teasingly shimmered in a sparse sleepy headed detailing that softly unfurls, stretches and thaws into fully formed view with demurring desire. One for the kranky old guard.

Gila Man” by Todd Tobias is an almost instrumental album. On some songs the British Chloe March lent her voice, but she does in wordless sounds. The compositions awaken the desire to return to the days of cowboys and Indians. The covering letter calls for creating your own stories, and that is what we will do. Welcome return of one of hidden shoal’s best kept secrets, the utterly adorable Apricot Rail herewith a new track entitled ‘scarecrow’. This twinkle toed gem snoozes, stretches and delicately rises whittling out an affectionately woodcrafted spring sprayed serenade whose dainty demur somewhat shyly plays hide and seek in the early morn twilight mists showering all in a gorgeously hazy rustic vintage that’s much reminiscent of that cosily cute recent Littlebow set for second language.

“This is 13 ephemeral minutes, five songs reminiscent of F.M. Cornog/East River Pipe that left me intrigued and hungry for much more. If you relish the sadder side of Sarah Records or early, 4AD/Crepuscule songwriter albums, Denver’s Sampson is worth your time....
